Describe a typical working day
I can’t really describe a typical working day because pretty much every day is different. There’s lots of variety. But during the collection period we’ll bring in several retail customers, and we work with them to put together the best possible collection. Ensuring that McGregor is well positioned in the stores.
Describe your background and experience
After taking a Small Business course I worked for an Italian fashion chain as Retail Manager for 15 years, in different countries around the world. When I came back to the Netherlands I got the opportunity to work at McGregor on the wholesale side, which I’m still doing and really enjoying.
What do you like about your job?
The variety in my work, putting together collections with my retail customers. Visiting the customers. And being involved in the creative process of styling and presenting the collections.
What do you like about working at the McGregor Fashion Group?
McGregor is an open organization. You get to be enterprising within the company, which means that you can always share your ideas with everybody. You’re given the freedom to do your job in the way you think would be most effective while working on the success of the organisation.
What has been your biggest challenge to date at the McGregor Fashion Group?
My biggest challenge was in the year 2000: putting McGregor Junior back on the map. After a few years’ absence, the McGregor Junior line was brought to market again. I found it extremely interesting to explore and find the optimum way of distributing the collection.
What personal contribution that you have made to the success of the McGregor Fashion Group are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of successfully relaunching McGregor Junior in 2000 and beyond. But I regularly take pride in other contributions I’ve made too.
