"Building on the success of the group from the financial side, together with colleagues both here and abroad, is something I enjoy."
Remco Vermeij, Chief Financial Officer
In my role as CFO I'm responsible for the group's financial policy. This means, among other things, that I evaluate the financial progress with the divisional controllers and management teams, and for this purpose we draw up budgets and compare the results against these budgets every month. If there's any divergence, that's the basis for taking action and making adjustments.
Before I came to McGregor I'd worked for about 3 years at the Secon Group in Amsterdam (known for brands like Turnover, Arrow and at that time G-Star as well), where I was also Group Controller. I ended up at Secon because the fashion industry seemed like a very attractive option to me as it's an appealing product and I like working in a marketing-oriented environment with strong brands. An important factor was that I was looking for a dynamic environment. This was the case at Secon, but is even more true at McGregor.
Before that I worked in various (financial) roles at Stork and Buhrmann. Prior to that I studied Industrial Engineering and Management Science at the Technical University in Eindhoven, which I supplemented with a postgraduate controllers' course at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
The ambition and energy here are what make the McGregor Fashion Group a great organization to work for. There's always something going on. Building on the success of the group from the financial side, together with colleagues both here and abroad, is something I enjoy. This is also emphatically expressed in our company value "play to win": people from different disciplines working together towards a common goal. Also, team spirit and cooperation in particular are very important. When you get a cohesive team, with all the different disciplines working closely together, you can achieve your ambitions.
