Press Release - 4 May 2007

MCGREGOR FASHION GROUP JOINS FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION

The McGregor Fashion Group N.V. became a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) on 19 March 2007. This move sees the McGregor Fashion Group and its subsidiary companies increasing their efforts to achieve good working conditions in suppliers' factories. The group's fashion items are produced in around 70 factories all over the world. The company requires these factories to comply with its working standards. The McGregor Fashion Group regularly inspects its factories and agrees on improvements where they are needed. FWF membership means that the McGregor Fashion Group allows FWF to check whether the working standards are actually being introduced gradually into the factories.

Founded in 1993, the McGregor Fashion Group is a European fashion house that manages a portfolio of fashion brands in the upper quality and price segment. McGregor and Gaastra are the group's biggest brands. With a turnover that has almost doubled in the last 4 years to reach the current level of around €170 million a year, the company is one of the fastest-growing fashion businesses in Western Europe.

Besides some 3,000 multi-brand stores all over Europe, the McGregor Fashion Group's brands are sold through 182 shop-in-shops in department stores and larger fashion stores. The brands are also sold through the group's own retail outlets: McGregor mono-brand stores, the Adam Menswear chain and half a dozen factory outlets. In total the group runs about 100 stores of its own. Around 550 people are building on the success of the McGregor Fashion Group brands.

The Fair Wear Foundation is an organization that offers independent verification of compliance with the Code of Labour Practices for the Garment Industry. There are currently 32 clothing companies signed up, whose clothes are made in Eastern Europe, North Africa and Asia, among other places. FWF checks that the code of labour practices is properly implemented in the factories.

FWF is an initiative of FNV Bondgenoten, the Clean Clothes Campaign, development organizations such as Oxfam-Novib, employers' organizations in the fashion industry such as Modint and Mitex, and other organizations that value the well-being of clothing workers worldwide. FWF is now in the process of expanding its activities abroad. www.fairwear.eu.
